We discussed my progress on the porch and landscaping around the shop (natch) and Donovan explained his book to her, then told her about getting a letter from one of Queen Elizabeth's Ladies-In-Waiting. She recommended Children of Men, I recommended Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians. (That's right, kids, it's spelled with a "u" and it's not a verb in present tense; you can't "verse" someone unless, possibly, you are spitting mad rhymes in his general direction.)

Something You Don't Do Every Day

Alcatraz, that's out here in the Bay somewhere isn't it? Never been there. Sounds like the kind of thing I would have ordered and read from the Scholastic Book Club - glad to hear it is still going strong. :-)
Well, you see, the Smedry family is blessed with various magical talents and are very powerful in the Free Kingdoms. However, most of the world (including the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa) are ruled by a secret conspiracy of Evil Librarians. They call us "The Hushlands." The Librarians hate the Smedrys so much that, over the past few centuries, they have named the most terrible prisons in the Hushlands after Free Kingdom heroes, many of whom are Smedrys. Thus Alcatraz has a grandpa Leavenworth, a cousin Sing, and a bodyguard named Bastille. They're all named after great heroes of the past.
That's most excellent, give my regards to Attica, Reikers and Quentin! :-)
Oh, yeah . . . I forgot Quentin. :)
